Taylor Fritz’s hunt for a ninth ATP singles tour title leads him to an intriguing battle in the Miami Open quarter-finals vs Matteo Berrettini. Fritz’s relentless power game has served him well so far, although the USA star may be slightly disappointed at his low ace numbers by his high standards. He recorded just four aces last time out against Adam Walton with only 60% of his first serves going in. However, this hasn’t stopped him from winning every set in Miami that Fritz has contested so far.

Matteo Berrettini has been in good form of late and is coming off the back of one of his best results of the year so far, beating Australian Alex de Minaur in straight sets. You could argue that only his win against Novak Djokovic in Qatar was more impressive. However, the Italian is yet to make it past the quarter-final stage of any tournament in 2025 and that could well have a negative psychological effect on Berrettini, especially if he falls behind early to Fritz.
