Taylor Fritz vs Alex de Minaur Prediction

Taylor Fritz is coming off a straight-sets defeat at the hands of Jannik Sinner but the American could take plenty of positives from his performance in that loss. He ultimately did not win enough on his second serve with just a 38% win ratio, but so many other aspects of his game were strong.

He now faces Alex de Minaur and the pair have had some fantastic battles in recent years. In the eight matches they have played, it is the Australian that has won five times and he won their only meeting in 2024. That came in the United Cup as De Minaur won 6-4 6-2.

De Minaur simply has to win this match in straight sets and hope that Jannik Sinner beats Daniil Medvedev comprehensively in straight sets also. For Fritz, it is much simpler as he will qualify with a win.

So much depends on whether De Minaur thinks he still has a chance and whether he plays hard enough. If he does not win the first set, that is his hope gone and he could well ease off the gas completely.

We marginally favour De Minaur on the face of it, but with no real confidence. Our preference is on the game betting and we foresee this being straight sets either way and one of them, likely the second, to be relatively quick.
