The final match between the Netherlands and Spain will see a doubles clash as Tallon Griekspoor and Wesley Koolhof will take on the Spanish duo of Marcel Granollers and Pedro Martinez.
it is Koolhof and Granollers who are the doubles specialists of the two pairings and both played at the ATP Finals last week, Granollers pairing with Horacio Zeballos lost all three matches including one to Koolhof and his partner Nicola Mektic.
That was an incredibly close and hard-fought game with the deciding set going to Koolhof and Mektic 10-8.
This one could very well come down to which of their partners does best between Griekspoor and Martinez. Koolhof has played with Griekspoor at the 2024 Paris Olympics and that experience could benefit them.
It would be no surprise if Alcaraz steps up here and replaces Martinez and that remains to seen. Alcaraz has played a number of doubles matches in the Davis Cup this year and it would not surprise us. That could well sway this tie in Spain’s favour but it really is a close match to call regardless of who plays. We can fully see this going the distance.
