Tallon Griekspoor vs Yosuke Watanuki Prediction

Tallon Griekspoor followed up his superb win over Alexander Zverev in the second round, with an excellent victory over Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard last time out. Griekspoor handles the Frenchman’s serve pretty well and was dominant on his own with ten aces and win percentages of 81% on first and 78% on second.

By reaching the round of 16, Griekspoor has now surpassed his previous best finish which came last year and he will now set his sights on going even further.

He takes on Japanese qualifier Yosuke Watanuki who is coming off a stunning win over Frances Tiafoe. After Tomas Machac was forced to withdraw against him in the second round, Watanuki showed his run to the third round was no fluke by stunning Tiafoe 6-4 7-6. During that match, he blasted an impressive 16 aces and created 12 break points as he picked up a thoroughly deserved win.

It will be interesting to see how he measures up with Griekspoor now. The Dutchman handled Mpetshi Perricard’s serve well and he will fancy his chances of doing the same here. Barring complacency, we expect Griekspoor to have the tools to eliminate Watanuki.
