Tallon Griekspoor will hope to continue his bid to return to the top 30 this year with a solid run in Madrid. 

The Dutch star reached the final in Marrakesh and was a quarter-finalist in Munich recently, suggesting he’s settling into the clay swing nicely. 

The world number 34 faces Vit Kopriva, who battled his way through qualifying to follow up a quarter-final run in Marrakesh and a title in a Challenger in Naples.

This will be their first meeting and although Kopriva is on the rise after reaching a career-high 95 in the rankings, the altitude should suit Griekspoor’s big first serve and crushing forehand.
