Tallon Griekspoor vs Luciano Darderi prediction

Tallon Griekspoor will bid for a first ATP Tour title in two years after sinking qualifier Kamil Majchrzak in the semi-finals in Marrakesh.

The top seed saved four of the five break points he faced and bagged two of the three he created on the return to edge the Polish qualifier 7-5 7-6.

The Dutchman boomed 27 winners and coughed up just 12 unforced errors with 84% of first serve points won, demonstrating the significance of his easy power.

Griekspoor will now meet Luciano Darderi in a showdown for the trophy after the Italian produced one of his finest performances to-date to defeat former champion Roberto Carballes Baena in straight sets.

Carballes Baena was targeting a third straight final at the tournament but never looked likely as he fell to just his second defeat in his last 14 matches on the Marrakesh dirt to bow out by a 6-3 6-2 scoreline.

Darderi gunned 22 winners compared to the Spaniard’s paltry five and dropped serve just once while breaking his opponent from four of his nine opportunities.

The seventh seed will now hope it’s a case of third time lucky having lost his previous two matches with Griekspoor in straight sets, including a 7-6 6-3 6-3 defeat at Roland-Garros last year.

Darderi has more recent form on the dirt, but we think Griekspoor’s serve and sizzling forehand will earn him a third ATP Tour title and a first on clay.
