Tallon Griekspoor produced a typically performance in the second round to grind out a shock win over top seed Alexander Zverev. After losing the first set, Griekspoor battled back to win the second and deciding sets to run out 4-6 7-6 7-6 winner.

That came after another three-set battle against Miomir Kecmanovic in the first round and Griekspoor is continuing his fine form from Dubai where he beat Humbert and Medvedev in three sets.

He now faces another challenge as he comes up against France’s Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. The big-serving talent was handed the walkover when Fabian Marozsan withdrew after losing the first set 6-4. Mpetshi Perricard was not quite firing on all cylinders but he will be hoping to click into gear here.
