Sydney Thunder Preview: Consecutive Victories Generate Much-Needed Momentum

Sydney Thunder are taking apart all who cross them at the moment and after dismantling Hobart Hurricanes by 33 runs, they went one better less than 24 hours later, thrashing Adelaide Strikers by 64 runs. The latter game saw them rack up 212/5 batting first, the only score of over 200 runs accumulated so far across this year’s tournament.

Brisbane Heat Preview: Under Pressure In All Departments

The inability to put together a perfect game is costing Brisbane Heat right now. If their batters are performing well, the bowlers aren’t backing them up and vice-versa. After failing to defend a score of 173/5 against Hobart Hurricanes, the Heat were rolled out for just 114 chasing 143 last time out vs Perth, further underlining that inconsistency.

Sydney Thunder Betting Analysis

Georgia Voll lit up the crease for the Thunder against Adelaide, racking up 92 from only 55 balls opening the batting with 12 fours and three maximums. Such a knock represented a return to form for Voll after consecutive low scores and when considering the importance of momentum across a competition like this (Ellyse Perry’s recent form with the bat being a primary example), it could be a smart move to capitalise from a betting perspective. Consider backing Voll to accrue 30+ runs on this occasion.

Brisbane Heat Betting Analysis

The Heat have found it particularly tough going with the ball and despite playing all four matches for her side, Charli Knott has picked up only two wickets so far. As an uncapped domestic player, a tournament of this quality can be a steep learning curve for young players such as Knott and it will take time for her to come good. That doesn’t mean her struggles can’t be taken advantage of by shrewd bettors, specifically by backing Knott to take under 1.5 match wickets against the Thunder.

Sydney Thunder Vs Brisbane Heat Expert Prediction

Whilst T20 cricket can often throw up the unexpected, these two teams are in polar opposite situations when it comes to form and most likely confidence. Sydney Thunder should look to impose the good cricket they are playing on Brisbane Heat, who could struggle to keep up. Any outcome other than victory for the red-hot Thunder would be a surprise.
