Sydney Sixers Preview: Grip on top spot lost

Sydney Sixers are now officially in a slump. Defeat at the hands of Melbourne Stars means that Moises Henriques’ side have now picked up just a point from the last six available to them, which has seen them drop to second-place in the table behind Sydney Thunder.

After being set 157 for victory, James Vince’s half-century helped guide the Sixers to 96/2. But his dismissal sparked a dramatic middle order collapse which ultimately led to them finishing 16 runs short of the Stars.

Perth Scorchers Preview: Out of top four following shock defeat

Perth Scorchers have endured a nightmare last couple of games, losing twice at Optus Stadium, which has been such a fortress for them for so long. Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Renegades are the two sides to have come to Perth and won, leaving the Scorchers currently outside the play-off places.

A total of 147/8 felt small batting first for Perth and whilst their bowlers fought hard to try and defend it, Renegades captain Will Sutherland (70) and Tom Rogers (49 not out) had the last laugh, dragging the visitors home with two balls to spare.

Sydney Sixers Betting Analysis

Despite their recent drop in form, James Vince remains one of the best performing batters across the whole of BBL 14. His half-century last time out means it’s now 228 runs recorded by Vince through six innings at an average of 45.60. He already boasts both a 50 and a century to his name this season and it’s well worth backing Vince to be his side’s top batter here.

Perth Scorchers Betting Analysis

The Scorchers’ Jason Behrendorff again demonstrated his threat with the ball in the power, due to the left-arm point of difference that he offers. He picked up two Renegades wickets in consecutive balls during the first over of their innings and has now accumulated 12 wickets over the course of the competition so far. A shrewd move would be backing Behrendorff to finish with over 1.5 match wickets here.

Sydney Sixers vs Perth Scorchers Expert Prediction

Two teams absolutely desperate for a victory here to break their respective winless streaks. Both are capable of big scores across their respective innings, which underlines the importance of the bowlers across the two squads. The Sixers should be better equipped to handle pitch conditions in Sydney with the likes of Sean Abbott among their ranks and with batter Vince in serious form as well, it may be worth backing them to edge it.
