Sydney Sixers Preview: On the hunt for a fourth BBL title
Sydney Sixers’ last triumph came in BBL 10, but since then they have finished runners-up in two of the last three seasons. However, they boast one of the strongest cores the competition has seen, which has dominated league stage play now for a number of years with plenty of proven, experienced domestic performers.
Moises Henriques once again leads the team and he will be backed up by long-time teammates Jordan Silk, Hayden Kerr and Sean Abbott, although the latter could miss this game depending on whether he is released by Australia. Hampshire batter James Vince returns as an overseas player, whilst Josh Philippe and Daniel Hughes help form an intimidating top order.

Melbourne Renegades Preview: The Sutherland era begins
After having huge impressed as captain of state side Victoria, bowling all-rounder Will Sutherland has been appointed the Renegades’ new skipper, with Cameron White drafted in as head coach. With just one play-off appearance across the last five seasons, including three last-place finishes, a big task lies ahead for the new leadership group.
Some big signings have been made to try and turbocharge the rebuild. Jacob Brown joins from Brisbane Heat, whilst Laurie Evans also arrives after having previously represented Perth. Although he won’t be available just yet, arguably the most exciting signing comes in the form of newly capped England youngster Jacob Bethell.

Sydney Sixers Betting Analysis
Plenty of players represent significant value here from a betting perspective, not least Sydney Sixers’ top order batters. One such name is Josh Philippe, who has additional motivation as he bids to prove he is worthy of a place in the Australian white-ball set-up on a permanent basis. On home turf here to start off the tournament, backing Philippe to register over 22.5 match runs appears a smart move to make.
Melbourne Renegades Betting Analysis
It’s important in the early stages of a tournament to focus on those ‘tried and tested’ players. Proven names who are always so reliable whether it be in domestic or international cricket. Adam Zampa fits the bill on this front and Australia’s star limited overs spinner is a key piece of Melbourne Renegades’ bowling attack. Consider backing Zampa to utilise his significant skills to good effect and take 2+ wickets here.
Sydney Sixers vs Melbourne Renegades Expert Prediction
It would be a significant surprise if Sydney Sixers did not come out on the right end of this match when taking into account that both teams are in very different places right now. The Sixers remain in ‘win-now’ mode with a settled core and plenty of experience, not to mention quality within their entire line-up. It may well take Melbourne Renegades time before they really click and we see them at their best, so a Sixers win feels very much on the cards.
