Suzan Lamens won a hard-fought match against Bianca Andreescu in the first-round. She made it through in three sets, winning 6-1 4-6 7-6. She did have the chances to make the result more comfortable but only took four out of a possible 11 break point opportunities.

Her next assignment is a tough one as she takes on Linda Nosovka. Nosovka didn’t have things all her own way in her first-round match, as she came from a set down to beat Bernarda Pera and advance to the round-of-16 stage. She was on the brink of going out of the competition in the second set tiebreak but managed to win it with seven points to five, which galvanised her ahead of the third set.

Lamens has played quite a bit of tennis on clay recently if you factor in the Billie Jean Cup, but Nosovka is the better player and we expect her to make it through and advance to the quarter-finals.
