Strasbourg and Olympique Lyonnais have both been very good in terms of entertainment and overall quality in the last couple of months as they now prepare to face off in the Alsace region.

Strasbourg Preview: Silky Strasbourg

Strasbourg, coached by former Hull City boss Liam Rosenior, were under a bit of pressure at the turn of the year but an almost relentless run of form since the winter break has allowed them to propel themselves into position where they could get European qualification this season.

The Alsace-based side most recently defeated Toulouse by two goals to one a couple of weeks ago before the March international break to mean that they have now suffered just two defeats in their last 15 matches across all competitions.

Lyon Preview: Chaotic Lyon

Paulo Fonseca, who has since been suspended from the dugout for nine months, replaced Pierre Sage in late-January and despite that being quite harsh on Sage, Fonseca and his Lyon side have remained good to watch as they push for UEFA Champions League qualification.

Lyon have made it into the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League with a 7-1 aggregate defeat of FCSB in the Round of 16 and they backed that up with a 4-2 win over Le Havre, too. They have lost just one of their last eight games with that one defeat being against Paris Saint-Germain.

Strasbourg Team News: A few issues

Strasbourg are still dealing with a few issues for this one as both Abdoul Ouattara and Moise Sahi are unavailable, whilst the likes of Alaa Bellaarouch, Nottingham Forest loanee Andrew Omobamidele, Thomas Delaine and Moise Sahi are key doubts, too.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Petrovic; Doue, Sarr, Doukoure; Amo-Ameyaw, Santos, Barco, Diego Moreira; Lemarechal, Nanasi; Emegha

Unavailable: Ouattara (Injured), Moise Sahi (Injured)

Questionable: Bellaarouch (Injured), Omobamidele (Injured), Delaine (Injured), Diarra (Injured)

Lyon Team News: Kumbedi suspension

Lyon have been dealing with a generally fully fit and available squad in recent months but they now have an injury doubt as Belgium international attacker Malick Fofana is potentially unavailable, whilst defender Sael Kumbedi is missing through suspension for this one.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Perri; Maitland-Niles, Clinton Mata, Niakhate, Tagliafico; Tolisso, Matic; Nuamah, Cherki, Almada; Lacazette

Unavailable: Kumbedi (Suspended)

Questionable: Fofana (Injured)

Strasbourg vs Lyon Prediction

Liam Rosenior has developed a reputation for wanting to play an entertaining and exciting, slick style of football. The hosts have been controlling games of late without too much in terms of attacking output but they have dominated matches. They now face a Lyon side that, conversely, have been thrilling to watch with their 26 Ligue 1 matches consisting of 83 goals. Strasbourg’s intention and Lyon’s reality means that both teams scoring looks a good bet for this one.
