Stephen Bunting vs Nathan Aspinall Prediction
It's approaching crisis point for Stephen Bunting and his Premier League hopes as he remains without a win in this year's competition. His fifth successive quarter-final defeat came at the hands of recently-crowned UK Open champion Luke Littler last week, although it should be noted that the Bullet averaged 104.89 in defeat.
In fact, Bunting boasts the fourth-highest tournament averaged heading into Thursday's action, despite being rooted to the bottom of the table, so it's fair to say he has had some bad luck along the way (his last three Premier League opponents have averaged 109, 103 and 112 respectively).
After failing to pick up a point in the first two nights, Nathan Aspinall was in a similar position a couple of weeks ago but a run to the final in Dublin was followed by a semi-final appearance last week in Exeter, and the Stockport thrower has dragged himself up the table as a result.
Aspinall also reached the quarter-finals at the UK Open over the weekend, but he benefitted from a fairly kind draw in truth and we fancy Bunting - given his general performance level - to get off the mark in Brighton.
