Sofia Kenin vs Anastasia Potapova prediction
Sofia Kenin was always in control in her second-round match as she easily defeated Lulu Sun 6-3 6-2. If her current form keeps up, it will only be a matter of time before the American returns to the top 20 of the world rankings. She’s made a really promising start to her clay court season and now currently holds a 6-1 win/loss record on the surface this year.
She takes on Anastasia Potapova for a place in the fourth-round. Potapova defeated an out of sorts Qinwen Zheng to make it through, winning 6-4 6-4. It was still a good performance from the Russian who maintained her level throughout and managed to capitalise on the errors in the eighth seed’s game.
Kenin leads Potapova 1-0 in the head-to-head, defeating her in their lone encounter at the 2023 San Diego Open in straight sets, but this will be their first match against each other on clay.
Potapova has picked up two impressive victories so far and these two are fairly evenly matched when it comes to their ranking, but we think the in-form Kenin will get it done in three sets.
