Shuai Zhang vs Yulia Putintseva prediction

Shuai Zhang made it through qualifying before getting past Luca Bronzetti 7-5 5-7 6-4 in a close three-set match. A strong 74% first serve contributed to her win, though she also committed seven double faults and must improve that aspect of her game if she is to cause problems for the number ten seed.

Yulin Putintseva has struggled for any kind of form this season, making the third round of the Australian Open but only winning one of her next seven matches, with defeat to Taylor Townsend in Miami being her third straight defeat in a row.

Putintseva has shown her quality on clay before, having made the quarter-finals of the French Open on two occasions, though that was in 2016 and 2018. She has won two WTA tour titles on the surface however, with the last coming in July 2021 at the Budapest Grand Prix.

These two have played each other on eight occasions, with Putintseva leading 6-2, though they have never played each other on clay before.

Their last match was a comfortable 6-2 6-1 for the Kazakhstani in round two of this year’s Australian Open, and we think Putintseva will put an end to her losing streak.
