Shaun Murphy vs Judd Trump prediction
A confident Shaun Murphy made three centuries and seven half-centuries in a 10-4 victory over Daniel Wells in the first round, and has talked up his game ahead of this heavyweight clash with Judd Trump, claiming that he is playing better than ever.
The 2005 world champion, who had been runner-up in a further three Crucible finals in his career, won his second Masters title earlier this season but his facing an opponent here that he has lost seven matches in a row against.
Trump was in sensational form in his 10-4 victory over Zhou Yuelong, at one point making three centuries in a row and four in five frames, to make a huge statement at this year’s World Snooker Championship.
The world number one knows that his career will ultimately be judged by the amount of Triple Crown titles he has won, a statistic he will be desperate to improve upon at Sheffield this year.
Murphy will need to play at the very top of his game to compete here, but you have to fancy Trump given the hugely impressive nature of his first-round win, not to mention his dominant 30-13 career record over Murphy.
