Sergei Pavlovich: Russian desperate for win after successive losses

Sergei Pavlovich (18-3) is coming off successive losses for the first time in his professional MMA career so the big Russian powerhouse is going to have to show some character here. After suffering a knockout loss to Tom Aspinall, he then saw a unanimous decision go in favour of Alexander Volkov last time out and that has slowed his momentum down. Prior to that, he had six successive first-round knockout wins over some quality operators like Derrick Lewis, Tai Tuivasa and Curtis Blaydes. He will look to get back on track here and will see Rozenstruik as the next victim.

Jairzinho Rozenstruik: Surinamese powerhouse looking for three-in-a-row for first time since 2019

Jairzinho Rozenstruik (15-5) is enjoying a nice resurgence in his last couple of bouts having beaten Shamil Gaziev via TKO and then Tai Tuivasa via split decision last time out. That came after a run of five losses in his previous eight fights although Rozenstruik was put up against some of the best heavyweights in the world. During that run, he lost to Francis Ngannou, Ciryk Gane and Alexander Volkov among others and he has just fallen short against the very elite fighters in the division. He is certainly among the best of the rest however and this will be a good test of where he fits in the top ten.

Sergei Pavlovich vs Jairzinho Rozenstruik Prediction

We have a beauty of a heavyweight match in the middle of the main card at UFC Fight Night 250 in Saudi Arabia as Sergei Pavlovich takes on Jairzinho Rozenstruik.

The big Russian has lost his last two fights and he has only every lost three in 21 pro fights so he comes into this one in his most vulnerable. Pavlovich has only ever lost to elite fighters and he will fancy his chances against Rozenstruik who has shown he is a tier below the best.

The Surinamese fighter is as game as they come and he certainly has a puncher’s chance. However, Pavlovich is a different level and we thoroughly expect the Russian to get back to winning ways and doing what he does best – knocking people out.

Prediction: Sergei Pavlovich to win by KO/TKO
