Scott Williams vs Ricardo Pietreczko Prediction
Scott Williams has so far shown that last year’s run to the semi-finals was no fluke, as he averaged 96.24 in his opening-round win over Germany’s Niko Springer and followed that up eliminating fifth seed Rob Cross in the second round.
Ricardo Pietreczko, meanwhile, has reached this stage for the second year in a row following wins over Chinese hopeful Zong Xiao Chen and talented youngster Gian van Veen. The German has dropped just one set across his two matches and had been particularly clinical with his doubling, converting over 55% of his attempts across his two wins to date.
The bookies marginally favour Williams here but if Pietreczko can maintain his unerring accuracy on the outer ring, then he will give himself every chance of progressing. Williams, though, is clearly comfortable on the Ally Pally stage and we’re tipping him to outlast the German in a high-quality encounter.
Scott Williams vs Ricardo Pietreczko Tip: Scott Williams to win 4-2
