Sayaka Ishii only made her WTA tour debut in the summer of last year and has already shown the makings of an extremely talented and exciting young player. Emma Raducanu of course, knows all about taking the Tennis world by storm as a teenager and as she continues to try and find her footing on tour, a deep run in this competition would be a huge boost.

Raducanu’s game is perfectly suited to the outdoor hard court, which was the surface on which she won the US Open. Her incredible power can overwhelm opponents at short notice and once she gets ahead, it’s hard for any opponent to match her. But the Brit is inconsistent and is also capable of dropping a subpar performance which would open the door for Ishii.

It’s been a really difficult few weeks for Raducanu, who recently took a short break after being subject to a stalking ordeal which came to a head in Dubai. Back her to shake that off here and get back to winning ways.
