Santiago Ponzinibbio: Argentine vet determined to halt slide

Santiago Ponzinibbio (29-8) comes into this fight having lost four of his last five fights in the UFC but he was somewhat unlucky to lose his last one. A split decision against Muslim Salikhov went against the 38-year-old which was somewhat controversial as nine of 13 media outlets scored if for him. Three of his las four losses have in fact come by split decisions going against him. He needs to get over it that however and bounce back as he faces a tough test in Carlston Harris.

Carlston Harris: Guyanese fighter stepping up in quality

Carlston Harris (19-6) is coming off a first-round knockout loss at the hands of Khaos Williams so it will be interesting to see how he comes back form that. It was his third knockout loss of his career so he is used to coming back from them and has never suffered back-to-back losses, but it is hardly a good trait to possess. The Guyanese fighter has an impressive record but scrutiny of his CV shows he has fought nowhere near the calibre that Ponzinibbio has.

Santiago Ponzinibbio vs Carlston Harris Prediction

Santiago Ponzinibbio may be on something of a slide and in the twilight of his career at the age of 38 but the manner of his losses have been somewhat unfortunate. There is still plenty of life left in the Argentine and he should not be written off just yet.

He meets Carlston Harris who has a decent record on paper but his opponents do not come close to the quality on Ponzinibbio’s resume.

This is the perfect fight for the Argentine to get back on track and we think he does just that. There is every chance he avoids the scorecards given the split decisions that have gone against him recently so we back him to get the KO.

Prediction: Santiago Ponzinibbio to win by KO/TKO
