Salford Red Devils Team News: Sneyd departed and Macdonald not in squad

Salford’s off the field issues continue and this week has been no different. They sold key man Marc Sneyd to Warrington while murmurings of discontent continue at the club with Nene Macdonald the latest that is reportedly on his way out. The centre was in the Challenge Cup squad initially last weekend but did not feature and he has not been included here neither. They can at least count on Joe Shorrocks who is back from a ban but their playing squad is getting weaker by the week at present.

Squad: Ryan Brierley, Ethan Ryan, Deon Cross, Jayden Nikorima, Chris Hill, Kallum Watkins, Joe Shorrocks, Chris Atkin, Shane Wright, Esan Marsters, Jack Ormondroyd, Justin Sangare, Joe Bullock, Matty Foster, Harvey Wilson, Kai Morgan, Nathan Connell, Tiaki Chan

Huddersfield Giants Team News: Winless Giants desperate to shed unwanted tag

Huddersfield Giants are in desperate need of a win and they have made something of a statement this week by signing Niall Evalds. He adds quality to the squad and his arrival will likely have a positive impact on the rest of the players too due to the positive sign of intent. Jacob Gagai, Tom Burgess, Adam Clune and Zac Woolford all remain out injured but they will be confident of getting their first win of the league campaign.

Squad: Adam Swift, Jake Bibby, Liam Sutcliffe, Sam Halsall, Tui Lolohea, Oliver Wilson, Jack Murchie, Sam Hewitt, Harry Rushton, Ashton Golding, Matty English, Fenton Rogers, Thomas Deakin, Leroy Cudjoe, Taane Milne, Aidan McGowan, Jack Billington, Connor Carr, George Flanagan, Jack Bibby, Niall Evalds

Salford Red Devils vs Huddersfield Giants Prediction

The situation at Salford is going from bad to worse and it is impossible to consider them from a betting perspective. While the players should be commended for continuing to play and show pride in their performances, it is virtually impossible to them to try meet the levels required when players are being sold, not being paid and dropping out of squads for one reason or another.

The Giants, on the other hand, have struggled to get a win this season despite leading all four league matches at half-time. They have shown some bits of quality in their play but struggle for consistency over the 90. The signing of Evalds is a big statement and will give them a boost when they need it the most. The Giants have far more quality and against a team with lower morale and confidence than themselves expect them to get their first win over the line here.

Salford Red Devils vs Huddersfield Giants Tip: Huddersfield Giants to win -6 points
