THE PREDICTION
Toulouse lost a clash of French giants on New Year’s Day 16-13 at Clermont to see a five-point gap created between them and main title-rivals Bordeaux at the top. That means it is now back-to-back defeats in the Top 14 after they lost to Bordeaux before the international break but they can return home for the first time since late November to make up for lost time against in-form Montpellier. The visitors are no gimme, though, with seven wins from their last eight matches across all competitions and a six-match winning streak in the Top 14 following their 12-27 victory at Biarritz last month. There is more than a scent of an upset here with Montpellier continuing to surprise teams and that makes taking Toulouse on a losing streak as tight outright winners at home a suitably cautious move here.
