THE TEAM NEWS

AUSTRALIA

  • Australia looked poor as they were comfortably beaten in South Africa last week with their Rugby Championship campaign getting off to a bad start but a home game with Argentina will be a good opportunity for them to get back to winning ways.

  • The Wallabies have now lost 12 of their last 16 Tests but will host the Pumas at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium, a venue where they have had more success than any other ground on home soil in which they have played a minimum of 20 Tests.

  • Australia look set to make huge changes to the side that lost so convincingly last week with both the backs and forwards set to see different personnel as the Wallabies look to avoid a second consecutive defeat on home soil to Argentina.

ARGENTINA

  • Argentina were just edged out by New Zealand last week as they pushed the All Blacks all the way in a tense Rugby Championship opener and will look to earn their first win of the tournament as they head to Australia.

  • The Pumas defeated Australia on their last trip Down Under as they ended a 35-year wait for a win in Australia and will fancy their chances of making it back-to-back wins against a side struggling for form.

  • Argentina have suffered an injury blow ahead of the game with inspirational hooker Agustin Creevy missing out with the shoulder injury he picked up against the All Blacks last week with Julian Montoya expected to take his place.

THE PREDICTION

Australia’s preparations for the World Cup are not going to plan and another defeat here to Argentina will set the alarm bells ringing. They were poor against South Africa last week and must bounce back here but will find it tricky against a game Argentina. The Pumas pushed the All Blacks all the way last week and despite the loss of Agustin Creevy at hooker, they can maintain that level of performance here. They may not get the win but it will be a close contest once again and it would not be a surprise to see the Pumas edge it.
