THE TEAM NEWS
ARGENTINA
- Argentina were narrowly defeated by Australia in their last Rugby Championship encounter which was their second tight loss in a row following a gusty display against New Zealand in their opening game.
- The Pumas have now lost eight matches in a row with their last win coming in the 2018 version of the Rugby Championship against Australia but they will take heart from their previous two performances.
- Agustin Creevy was a big loss against Australia but the hooker is fit enough to return here and he is joined in the starting XV by Marcos Kremer at lock, Javier Ortega Desio at flanker and Emiliano Boffelli at fullback.
SOUTH AFRICA
- South Africa backed up their superb display over Australia in their first game of this year’s Rugby Championship as they earned a battling draw in Wellington against New Zealand as their preparations for the World Cup continue to ramp up.
- They now head to Argentina for what is likely to be another difficult contest but with the Pumas on a long losing run, they will be confident of another win despite the Pumas putting in two solid displays from their two games so far.
- The Springboks have altered their front row for this clash with Tendai Mtawarira, Bongi Mbonambi and Trever Myakane packing down in the only changes to the side that started against the All Blacks.
THE PREDICTION
Argentina have not played like a side that have not won since September 2018 after pushing Australia close after they did the same to New Zealand. It is surely only a matter of time before their losing streak is ended but they face an in-form South Africa side here. The Springboks claimed a brilliant draw in Wellington last time out and after a big win over Australia, they can carry on their good start to the Rugby Championship by seeing off the Pumas but it could be another close contest.
