THE PREDICTION
France will be eager to produce better than they showed in last year’s Six Nations campaign and that could spell trouble for Italy in this opening contest. The French looked set to suffer a third loss from their five games until a late show saw them stun Wales and cost their opponents the Grand Slam. That type of effort should act as a motivator for this campaign while Italy will be eager to produce some solid displays after another pitiful effort in 2021. They managed just 55 points while conceding 239 in their five games and while there is always optimism at the start of each tournament, they are ultimately likely to be outclassed with the French able to cover the -30 handicap in this one.
