THE LOWDOWN

SAMOA

Samoa begin their Rugby World Cup campaign with this clash against Chile and will be confident of getting off the mark at the first time of asking. They have produced some solid performances in their warm-up matches and were very impressive in their win over Tonga which will be the benchmark for them here.

CHILE

Chile were defeated in their first ever RWC contest as they went down to Japan. The Chileans were ultimately on the end of a one-sided loss but they caught the eye with some of their play in that encounter and will hope to cross for some more tries in this one.

THE PREDICTION

Samoa will believe they can advance from Pool D but they will need to get off to a good start here as they take on Chile. In their maiden Rugby World Cup, little is expected of the Chileans but they performed well in defeat to Japan, although the scoreline did give the game a different feel. Samoa are likely to be too good for them here and they should be able to win convincingly.
