THE LOWDOWN

FRANCE

France were excellent as they made a huge statement in the opening game of the tournament, toppling New Zealand in impressive fashion. The hosts will now look to build towards the knockout stages and on the back of such a superb triumph, head coach Fabien Galthie has opted to rest some of his stars with skipper Antoine Dupont among those to sit this one out.

URUGUAY

Uruguay will make their first appearance of the 2023 Rugby World Cup and it is a daunting prospect they will face. They will be hoping to advance from Pool A alongside the French and will be solely aiming to limit the damage in this encounter.

THE PREDICTION

France made all the headlines last week with their eye-catching win over New Zealand and could well be the team to beat in this tournament. The French were too good for the All Blacks and have now taken the chance to rotate some of their frontline stars for this clash with Uruguay, although their team still looks like an extremely strong one. The Uruguayans could barely have asked for a tougher game to get their campaign underway and while they will be game, it is hard to see anything other than a straightforward success for the host nation.
