THE PREDICTION

Gloucester lost their opening Premiership match away at Northampton Saints last Saturday but there were some positives to take from a 34-20 result. Scoring 20 points with a depleted squad suggests they should be much more competitive this season in what has become an altogether tougher division. They host Leicester Tigers next, with the visitors stealing most of the opening weekend headlines with a stunning 34-19 win over Exeter Chiefs. Their performances were getting better and better towards the end of last season and they sent out a statement of intent last Saturday to continue in that trajectory. This could be closer than it looks with Gloucester taking teams close in plenty of defeats last season but Leicester to cover -3 on the road looks a useful option.
