THE PREDICTION
Scotland were up 10-8 at half-time against South Africa in a high-quality encounter that the Springboks eventually proved too strong for a 15-30 victory. Their previous stunning win over Australia provided plenty of confidence that was clear to see early on against South Africa and they will be eager to reward Murrayfield with a more straightforward test victory against an out-of-sorts Japan side on Saturday afternoon. The Brave Blossoms were the winners of their previous meeting at the Rugby World Cup in Japan back in 2019 but the hosts are a much better team now with plenty of young blood now bedded in and maturing well. Japan snapped a four-match losing streak by beating an inferior Portugal last week to get their first win on the board in 2021 but they will be up against it from the start here. Ireland trounced them 60-5 earlier this month but both sides should be able to contribute to a big score here in which Scotland can cover -15.
