THE PREDICTION

England should enjoy a comfortable start to the Autumn Nations Series in this likely routine home tie against travelling Tonga. Eddie Jones’ side will be eager to put a poor Six Nations behind them with plenty of the losing Lions squad also looking to impress on the international stage once again. Harlequins’ star Marcus Smith has recovered from an injury to make the bench here with Owen Farrell starting at fly-half. There is plenty of scope for changes and debuts for the likes of Alex Mitchell against an under-strength Tongan outfit with this scoreline looking like a procession in front of joyous, returning Twickenham fans. 10 home tries would not be a surprise here, so taking England to cover -50 is a feasible target to start from if you want to add value.

Since this preview was published, Owen Farrell has tested positive for covid-19. His replacement will likely be Henry Slade or George Furbank.
