THE TEAM NEWS

SOUTH AFRICA

  • South Africa claimed their first major trophy for a decade as they won the Rugby Championship with a superb display against Argentina last week and will now face the Pumas for the second time in a week.
  • Handre Pollard was the key Springbok in Argentina as he notched 31 of his side’s 46 points, which included two tries, and he will be joined for this game by regular captain Siya Kolisi, Marco van Staden and Dillyn Leyds.
  • The Springboks could also include two uncapped players for this game after call-ups were handed out to Scarra Ntubeni and Wilco Louw who will both be hoping to make their debuts in this Autumn International.

ARGENTINA

  • Argentina lacked their usual defensive resilience as they were outclassed by South Africa in their final Rugby Championship game last week and that result means that the Pumas have now lost their last nine games.
  • The Pumas were also poor with ball in hand as they constantly turned the ball over in good field positions but ultimately it will be their porous defence that will leave most questions to be answered this week.
  • With the World Cup on the horizon, this is the only scheduled warm-up game that Argentina have before they take on France in their opening game next month with this game set to determine the fate of several of their fringe players.

THE PREDICTION

South Africa capped off a superb Rugby Championship with a demolition job on Argentina last week. The Springboks were sensational as they posted 46 points past the Pumas and putting those three performances together in the Rugby Championship, they will have put all of the other top nations on alert ahead of the World Cup. The Pumas are on a desperate run of form and heading to face their conquerors of last week does not look like it will help end their losing streak, with the Springboks likely to win comfortably once again.
