THE TEAM NEWS
FRANCE
- France host Scotland in the first of two games against the Scots in the coming weeks with the first being held in Nice’s Allianz Riviera in what is their first game since a disappointing Six Nations campaign.
- The French suffered defeats to Wales and Ireland and were also hammered by England at Twickenham with those performances leaving plenty of work to do ahead of what lies in wait at the World Cup.
- France got the better of Scotland during the Six Nations but that will count for nothing in this fixture with both teams set to be much-changed from that game with the French likely to tweak their line-up as they look to develop some combinations ahead of the World Cup.
SCOTLAND
- Scotland will head to France for their first Autumn International as they play their first game since their thrilling Six Nations finale against England in which the Scots fought back from 31-0 down to claim a brilliant draw.
- The Scots still have 40 players to choose from for the World Cup after cutting Nick Grigg, Kyle Steyn, Henry Pyrgos and Gary Graham and must whittle their squad down to 31 before they head to Japan.
- Scotland are likely to name an experimental team this week with numerous players still fighting for a spot in the World Cup squad, with those players knowing their chances are now limited.
THE PREDICTION
France were disappointing during the Six Nations and have plenty of work to do ahead of the World Cup. They begin their build-up with a game against Scotland that they will be expected to win but things may not go as planned for them. The Scots appear to be building an exciting team and although they may not all feature here in what could be an experimental line-up, those who do play will be fighting for a place on the plane to Japan with the away side able to spring a surprise here.
