THE TEAM NEWS

HULL FC

  • Hull FC were once again completely outplayed as they went down to league leaders Warrington Wolves last week and the pressure is well and truly on ahead of this Hull derby.
  • The Black and Whites have now lost their last five matches with head coach Tony Smith promising changes for this contest but at least one of those will be enforced with fullback Tex Hoy ruled out with a hamstring injury.

21-man squad: Swift, Tuimavave, Sutcliffe, McIntosh, Clifford, Sao, Houghton, Satae, Lane, Fash, Cator, Evans, McNamara, Brown, Vulikijapani, Griffin, Litten, Gardiner, Shaul, Taylor, Dwyer

Unavailable: Jake Trueman (Injured), Cameron Scott (Injured), Tex Hoy (Injured)

HULL KR

  • Hull KR played the conditions superbly as they were able to make it back-to-back victories, overcoming Leeds Rhinos thanks to a wonderful performance with the boot from Jordan Abdull.
  • The halfback’s kicking game was too much for the Rhinos to handle in the wet weather and Rovers will come into this full of confidence on the back of that success, especially as skipper Shaun Kenny-Dowall will return from suspension as well as fellow centre Tom Opacic from a groin injury.

21-man squad: Coote, Opacic, Kenny-Dowall, Hall, Abdull, Sue, Parcell, King, Halton, Linnett, Minchella, Litten, Kennedy, Batchelor, Storton, Lewis, Milnes, Hadley, Senior, Wood, Luckley

THE PREDICTION

Hull FC will hope this derby with cross-city rivals Hull KR can lift them into producing a better performance having now lost their last five. In truth, they have been poor for the majority of those games and it would not be a surprise if they lost again here. Hull KR have been patchy so far this season but have won their last two in relatively comfortable fashion. They look the more assured side and based on what the hosts have shown so far this season, an away win is on the cards in this one with bragging rights set to be with the east side of the city.
