THE TEAM NEWS

HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS

  • Huddersfield Giants put their Challenge Cup final disappointment behind them as they produced a brilliant display to see off Catalans Dragons last week to solidify their position in the top four of Super League.
  • The Giants were brilliant from the off and opened up a 16-point lead by half-time before doing enough to seal the win, condemning the Dragons to their first home loss in the league so far this season but they have some issues to deal with this week as Luke Yates has been handed a ban while Adam O’Brien drops out through injury.

21-man squad: 1 Will Pryce, 2 Jermaine McGillvary, 3 Jake Wardle, 4 Ricky Leutele, 5 Ashton Golding, 6 Tui Lolohea, 9 Danny Levi, 10 Michael Lawrence, 11 Josh Jones, 12 Chris McQueen, 14 Matty English, 15 Joe Greenwood, 16 Jack Cogger, 17 Owen Trout, 20 Oliver Wilson, 21 Leroy Cudjoe, 23 Oliver Russell, 25 Innes Senior, 26 Nathan Mason, 27 Jack Ashworth, 29 Sam Hewitt

Questionable:

LEEDS RHINOS

  • Leeds Rhinos continue to trend in the right direction thanks to producing their best performance of the season in their win over Warrington Wolves last week, handing new head coach Rohan Smith his most impressive victory since taking the reins.
  • The Rhinos were dominant on both sides of the ball in that 4-40 success and will be eager to kick-on from that performance as they go in search of a fifth win from six games with the return of Harry Newman from a long-term injury likely to boost their chances.

21-man squad: 2 David Fusitu’a, 3 Harry Newman, 4 Liam Sutcliffe, 5 Ash Handley, 6 Blake Austin, 8 Mikolaj Oledzki, 9 Kruise Leeming, 10 Matt Prior, 12 Rhyse Martin, 13 Zane Tetevano, 14 Brad Dwyer, 15 Alex Mellor, 16 Richie Myler, 17 Cameron Smith, 19 Bodene Thompson, 22 Sam Walters, 23 Jack Broadbent, 24 Jarrod O’Connor, 25 James Donaldson, 26 Corey Johnson, 33 Zak Hardaker

THE PREDICTION

Huddersfield Giants produced a great display to put their Challenge Cup final disappointment behind them at the first time of asking as they got the better of top four rivals Catalans Dragons. They have now won their last four Super League contests and will believe they can extend that winning streak but it will not be an easy task for them as they take on an improving Leeds Rhinos outfit. The Rhinos have won four of their last five and are starting to show some quality under new head coach Rohan Smith. Both teams will fancy their chances in this one but in what could be a tight affair, it is worth siding with the Rhinos with the benefit of a +6.5 start on the handicap.
