THE TEAM NEWS

WESTS TIGERS

  • Wests Tigers fell to another loss last week as their winless start to the campaign continued with Brisbane Broncos handing them a heavy defeat.
  • Wests looked poor with the ball once again while their defence continued to struggle so it is not surprising that changes have been made with Adam Doueihi reverting back to five-eighth with Charlie Staines switching to fullback.

Starting 13: Staines, Kepaoa, Naden, To’a, Tupou, Doueihi, Brooks, Utoikamanu, Koroisau, Klemmer, Papali’i, Bateman, Pole – Interchanges: Simpkin, Twal, Ofahengaue, Blore – Reserves: Matamua, Seyfarth, Wakeham, Ngatikaura, Laurie

Unavailable: Tommy Talau (Injured)

PARRAMATTA EELS

  • Parramatta Eels were outclassed by Sydney Roosters last week and the manner of that loss will be alarming for the Eels, despite scoring some late points to give the impression the scoreline was closer than it should have been.
  • It was a shame for the Eels that they were unable to back up their performance which saw them defeat reigning premiers Penrith Panthers in their prior contest but they do at least receive a boost here with Shaun Lane back in the side in the back row.

Starting 13: Gutherson, Sivo, Penisini, Russell, Dunster, D. Brown, Moses, Campbell-Gillard, Hodgson, Greig, Lane, Cartwright, Matterson – Interchanges: Hopgood, Hands, Murchie, Makatoa – Reserves: Arthur, Dooley, Ogden, Rodwell, Blake

Unavailable: Junior Paulo (Suspended), Bailey Simonsson (Suspended)

THE PREDICTION

It has been a wretched start to the campaign for Wests Tigers and things do not appear to be getting any better after they suffered a big loss to top of the ladder Brisbane Broncos last week. They now come up against a potentially dangerous Parramatta Eels outfit that were underwhelming last time out as they were outplayed by Sydney Roosters. However, they showed glimpses of what they can do and with their first choice back row available for the first time this season, they should prove to be too classy for their opponents and can keep them winless by making it nine wins in the past 10 matchups between the pair.
