THE TEAM NEWS

SYDNEY ROOSTERS

  • Sydney Roosters suffered a second loss in succession and their hopes of making the finals appear to be all but over after they went down to Manly Sea Eagles last time out.
  • Despite producing one of their better performances of the season, the Tricolours still fell short but are handed a huge boost here with Joseph Suaalii and Brandon Smith back on deck while their Origin stars are expected to back-up.

Starting 13: Tedesco, Tupou, Bi. Smith, Manu, Suaalii, Keary, S. Smith, Waerea-Hagreaves, Turpin, Collins, Radley, N. Butcher, Brown – Interchanges: Br. Smith, E. Butcher, Wong, Whyte – Reserves: Hutchison, May, Allan, Pauga, Napa

Unavailable: Connor Watson (Injured), Paul Momirovski (Injured), Sam Walker (Injured), Angus Crichton (Injured), Sitili Tupouniua (Injured)

MELBOURNE STORM

  • Melbourne Storm failed to make it four successive victories as they blew a 14-0 lead to succumb to a heavy loss against reigning premiers Penrith Panthers in their most recent encounter.
  • The Storm were disappointing in that contest despite making such a strong start but they will be hopeful of responding here and could be aided by the inclusion of their Origin trio.

Starting 13: Meaney, Warbrick, Smith, Olam, Coates, Munster, Hughes, Kamikamica, H. Grant, Welch, Loiero, Asofa-Solomona, King – Interchanges: Wishart, Eisenhuth, Sims, Garlick – Reserves: Anderson, MacDonald, Nikorima, Seve, Lewis, Jennings

Unavailable: Dean Ieremia (Injured), Ryan Papenhuyzen (Injured), Eliesa Katoa (Injured), Aaron Pene (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Sydney Roosters are still in the hunt to make the finals but owing to the sheer number of teams that they will need to overhaul, it looks very unlikely at this stage of the season. Their form has not been good enough and despite producing a much better effort against Manly Sea Eagles, they were beaten for the third time in four outings. Melbourne Storm’s spot in the top eight is still not entirely secure but they are also just two points off top spot on the ladder at the start of the round so they will be looking up rather than down. They were well beaten by Penrith Panthers last time out but have won six of their past seven matchups against the Roosters so they are given the nod in this one.
