THE TEAM NEWS
ST. GEORGE ILLAWARRA DRAGONS
- St. George Illawarra Dragons will get their season underway in round 2 after sitting out last week and they will be eager to make their mark here.
- The Dragons are amongst a host of teams that could well be battling it out for the wooden spoon this year with the loss of Cody Ramsey a tough pill to swallow for Anthony Griffin’s side.
Starting 13: Sloan, Mat. Feagai, Suli, Lomax, Ravalawa, Sullivan, Hunt, F. Molo, Mbye, Lawrie, Murdoch-Manila, Su’a, Bird – Interchanges: Liddle, Musgrove, Couchman, M. Molo – Reserves: Kerr, Burns, Max Feagai, Amone, Woods
Unavailable: Cody Ramsey (Illness), Jack De Belin (Injured)
GOLD COAST TITANS
- Gold Coast Titans showed some decent defensive resolve as they repelled plenty of Wests Tigers attacks to get the job done in round 1 and get their season off to a solid start.
- The Titans had to do a lot of defending in their own 20 but looked fairly comfortable and head coach Justin Holbrook has seen no need to change his side for this encounter.
Starting 13: Brimson, Khan-Pereira, Schoupp, Sami, J. Fifita, Foran, Boyd, Jolliffe, Verrills, Fa’asuamaleaui, D. Fifita, Stimson, Liu – Interchanges: Campbell, Fotuaika, Clark, McIntyre – Reserves: Randall, Spry, Haas, Kini, Sexton
Unavailable: Patrick Herbert (Injured), Brian Kelly (Suspended), Beau Fermor (Injured)
THE PREDICTION
St. George Illawarra are the final side to compete in this season’s NRL after they were on their bye week in round 1. They will hope to put on a show in their opener but face a buoyant Gold Coast Titans outfit. The visitors did enough to see off Wests Tigers last week to make it three straight victories stretching back to last year and while the Dragons ended last season on a high with three successive wins, they could be caught cold here so the away side are the slight preference in this one.
