THE TEAM NEWS
SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS
- South Sydney Rabbitohs almost produced a remarkable comeback as they forced golden point in their clash with Melbourne Storm last week but their efforts proved to be in vain as Ryan Papenhuyzen kicked a game-winning field goal.
- That late flurry of points in which they scored three tries in the final 12 minutes did somewhat mask what a poor showing it had been up until that point and the Bunnies’ misfiring attacking play will come under real scrutiny here with Blake Taaffe still sidelined.
Starting 13: Mitchell, Johnston, Milne, Graham, Paulo, Walker, Ilias, Tatola, Cook, Nicholls, Koloamatangi, Arrow, Murray – Interchanges: Host, Havili, Burgess, Knight – Reserves: Mansour, Chee Kam, Kennar, Moale, Hawkins, Mamouzelos, Tass
Unavailable: Blake Taaffe
SYDNEY ROOSTERS
- Sydney Roosters put their round one horror show behind them as they proved to be far too good for Manly Sea Eagles last week and they will be desperate to build on that in this huge clash with South Sydney Rabbitohs.
- The Roosters have been on the end of a couple of big losses against their bitter rivals in their last few meetings but they appear to be in a good place ahead of this clash and they will roll with the same personnel as last week, although there are a few changes within the 17.
Starting 13: Tedesco, Tupou, Momirovski, Manu, Smith, Walker, Keary, Collins, Watson, Taukeiaho, N. Butcher, Tupouniua, Radley – Interchanges: Hutchison, Baker, Crichton, Waerea-Hargreaves – Reserves: Lam, Suluka-Fifita, Lussick, Whyte, Keighran, Atoni, Naiqama
Unavailable: Sam Verrills, Joseph Suaalii, Egan Butcher
THE PREDICTION
This Sydney derby between South Sydney Rabbitohs and Sydney Roosters is the clash of round three in the NRL. Tensions are likely to be high after some unsavoury incidents in the last meeting between the two and that should make for a fiery contest. Souths have got the better of their rivals in a big way in a couple of their recent matchups but the Roosters will be out to put those defeats to bed by capitalising on the Rabbitohs’ poor start to the season. Souths have looked poor with the ball and with the Roosters hitting their straps last week, it is the Tricolours that are favoured to prevail in this clash.
