THE TEAM NEWS

PENRITH PANTHERS

  • Penrith Panthers suffered a blow in their quest to land the minor Premiership as they went down to rivals Parramatta Eels last week, bringing their eight-game winning streak to an end.
  • Following Brisbane Broncos’ loss on Thursday, the door is open for the Panthers to finish top of the ladder with a win here but they will be without key man Jarome Luai after he suffered a shoulder injury.

NORTH QUEENSLAND COWBOYS

  • North Queensland Cowboys know that they need a win to keep their season alive as they secured a vital victory against the Dolphins last week.
  • That was a first success in four matches but they must build on that here and head coach Todd Payten will stick with the 17 that got the job done last week.

THE PREDICTION

This is a huge game between Penrith Panthers and North Queensland Cowboys with plenty at stake for both teams. A win for the reigning premiers would see them clinch the minor Premiership while the Cowboys must win to prolong their season and secure a spot in the finals. This could go either way and it will be interesting to see how the Panthers cope without Jarome Luai but home advantage is likely to be crucial here and Penrith are the preference, although the winning side are likely to prevail by a 1-12 point margin.
