THE TEAM NEWS

PENRITH PANTHERS

  • Penrith Panthers produced their best performance of the season as they blew Canberra Raiders away last week, running out huge winners thanks to scoring 40 points in the second half alone.
  • The Panthers looked back to their best and while they will face a tougher opponent here, they will be confident of going back-to-back, although they have lost influential prop James Fisher-Harris to injury.

Starting 13: Edwards, Turuva, Tago, Crichton, To’o, Luai, Cleary, Leota, Kenny, Eisenhuth, Sorensen, Hosking, Yeo – Interchanges: Luke, L. Smith, Leniu, Salmon – Reserves: Peachey, Cogger, Blacker, Falls, Jenkins

Unavailable: Taylan May (Injured), Liam Martin (Injured), Luke Garner (Injured), James Fisher-Harris (Injured)

MANLY SEA EAGLES

  • Manly Sea Eagles were architects of their own downfall last week as they played out a rare draw with Newcastle Knights and they will need to find a way to improve defensively for this clash with the reigning premiers.
  • The Sea Eagles have looked really impressive with the ball so far this term but they shipped 32 last week which will be a real concern. However, there could still be more to come in attack too with Josh Schuster and Jason Saab coming into the side.

Starting 13: T. Trbojevic, Saab, Parker, Harper, Garrick, Schuster, Cherry-Evans, Paseka, Croker, J. Trbojevic, Olakau’atu, Tuilagi, Aloiai – Interchanges: Weekes, Lawton, Bullemor, Keppie – Reserves: Sipley, Johns, Tuaimalo Vaega, Fainu, Woods

Unavailable: Tolutau Koula (Injured), Ben Trbojevic (Injured), Christian Tuipulotu (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Penrith Panthers produced a stunning second half display as they blitzed Canberra Raiders last week. The Panthers looked back to their attacking best and that sets up this clash with Manly Sea Eagles nicely. The visitors have also shown how potent they can be with the ball this season but have struggled defensively so it will be a real challenge for the Sea Eagles to see if they can limit their hosts’ attacking threat. This could go either way but while the Panthers are expected to clinch the win, at least 46 points are set to be posted in what should be an intriguing encounter.
