THE PREDICTION

Reigning premiers Penrith Panthers will get the defence of their crown underway in what is a tough matchup against a dangerous Manly Sea Eagles outfit. It is a blockbuster way for the new NRL season to get underway with a thrilling contest lying in wait, although the Sea Eagles will fancy their chances owing to the absence of Nathan Cleary. The halfback is yet to overcome off-season surgery and that opens the door for the Sea Eagles to end the Panthers’ excellent 17-game winning streak on home soil. It is a contest that could easily go either way but the loss of Cleary cannot be understated and Manly’s quality with the ball can see them get the better of the hosts.
