THE TEAM NEWS

NORTH QUEENSLAND COWBOYS

  • North Queensland Cowboys earned a fifth win in succession as their late charge towards a spot in the top eight gathered further pace.
  • The Cowboys got the better of Manly Sea Eagles, restricting their opponents to just eight points. That means they have allowed just 14 points in their last three matches and they will roll with the same side for this encounter.

Unavailable: James Tamou (Injured), Tom Chester (Injured), Heilum Luki (Injured)

PARRAMATTA EELS

  • Parramatta Eels bounced back from their heavy loss to New Zealand Warriors but were pushed all the way by Gold Coast Titans.
  • Mitch Moses secured the win with a late field goal to make it six victories from seven for the Eels but they will find it tough to build on that run with the loss of suspended duo Reagan Campbell-Gillard and Maika Savo with the latter needing to be replaced in the side that was named on Tuesday.

Starting 13: Gutherson, Sivo, Penisini, Simonsson, Russell, Asi, Moses, Ogden, Hands, Paulo, Lane, Cartwright, Hopgood – Interchanges: Moretti, Ofahengaue, Davey, Matterson – Reserves: Dunster, Makatoa, Blake, Rodwell, Murchie

Unavailable: Wiremu Greig (Injured), Dylan Brown (Suspended), Josh Hodgson (Injured), Reagan Campbell-Gillard (Suspended), Maika Sivo (Suspended)

THE PREDICTION

North Queensland Cowboys could be the dark horses to land the Premiership if they can force their way into the finals. They have won all of their last five and have looked impressive in doing so. They now take on one of the teams that they have in their sights as they aim to break into the top eight in the shape of Parramatta Eels, a side that have also played well of late. They have won six of their last seven but this will be a tough trip for them with the Cowboys proving tough to beat on home soil this season and it is worth siding with the hosts to keep their winning streak intact.
