THE TEAM NEWS

MELBOURNE STORM

  • Melbourne Storm claimed a third win in succession and a fifth victory in their last six matches as they ran out comfortable winners against Manly Sea Eagles last week.
  • The Storm have conceded just one try in each of their last two matches and there is more to come with the ball too, especially as they are able to recall key man Cameron Munster for this clash with Jonah Pezet making way.

Starting 13: Meaney, Warbrick, Smith, Olam, Coates, Munster, Hughes, Sims, H. Grant, Welch, Loiero, Asofa-Solomona, King – Interchanges: Garlick, MacDonald, Kamikamica, Bradley – Reserves: Wishart, Eisenhuth, Lewis, Faalogo, Pezet

Unavailable: Dean Ieremia (Injured), Ryan Papenhuyzen (Injured), Eliesa Katoa (Injured), Marion Seve (Injured), Aaron Pene (Injured)

PENRITH PANTHERS

  • Despite resting all of their Origin stars, Penrith Panthers were able to get the better of Newcastle Knights last week to make it six wins from their last seven outings.
  • It was the perfect response to their golden point loss to North Queensland Cowboys and they will aim to improve on their recent run with all five of their New South Wales contingent back on deck.

Starting 13: Edwards, Turuva, Tago, Crichton, To’o, Luai, Cogger, Leota, Kenny, Fisher-Harris, Sorensen, Martin, Yeo – Interchanges: Luke, L. Smith, Leniu, Salmon – Reserves: Hosking, Eisenhuth, Garner, Peachey, Jenkins

Unavailable: Taylan May (Injured), Nathan Cleary (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

This should be a humdinger of a contest as two of the top three do battle. Melbourne Storm and Penrith Panthers are both locked on 24 points apiece and the pair will each fancy their chances of winning. They have each won five of the past 10 encounters between the two so there is little to split them and the same can be said based on how they have both performed of late. The two teams are strong defensively so expect a low-scoring game which produces no more than 42.5 points and the winning margin is likely to be 1-12 points either way, although the Storm are the slight preference.
