THE TEAM NEWS
GOLD COAST TITANS
- Gold Coast Titans fell agonisingly short in their efforts to make it three straight wins as they were edged in a close affair with Canberra Raiders last week.
- It was a blow to the Titans’ hopes of making the finals and they will find it tough to bounce back here with the key quartet of AJ Brimson, David Fifita, Moeaki Fotuaika and Tino Fa’asuamaleaui all missing owing to call-ups for Queensland in State of Origin.
Starting 13: Campbell, Khan-Pereira, Kelly, Schoupp, Sami, Foran, Boyd, Jolliffe, Verrills, I. Fa’asuamaleaui, Haas, Stimson, Liu – Interchanges: Randall, Clark, J. Fifita, Alick – Reserves: Mikaele, Kini, Leeming, Maumalo, Francis
Unavailable: Beau Fermor (Injured), AJ Brimson (Origin), David Fifita (Origin), Moeaki Fotuaika (Origin), Tino Fa’asuamaleaui (Origin)
DOLPHINS
- The Dolphins produced a much better account of themselves in their clash with Brisbane Broncos last week but it was not enough to get back to winning ways.
- Their defeat to their local rivals was a fourth loss in succession and while there was a lot to like about last week’s effort, they will come into this contest without Felise Kaufusi through injury while Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow is on Origin duty.
Starting 13: Nikorima, Isaako, Aitken, Te Whare, Niu, Katoa, O’Sullivan, J. Bromwich, Marshall-King, Ese’ese, Lemuelu, K. Bromwich, Stone – Interchanges: Kerr, Nicholls, Milford, Wallace – Reserves: Plath, Graham, Faamausili, Lee, Donoghoe
Unavailable: Tom Gilbert (Injured), Brenko Lee (Injured), Felise Kaufusi (Injured), Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow (Origin)
THE PREDICTION
This Queensland derby is an important one for both teams as they aim to stay in touch with the top eight. Gold Coast Titans lost out to Canberra Raiders last week while the Dolphins suffered a fourth defeat in-a-row as they went down to Brisbane Broncos. That leaves the pair needing to put a run of wins together to keep themselves in contention for the finals but with so many key men missing because of State of Origin call-ups, the Titans may well fall short with the Dolphins able to get back to winning ways.
