THE TEAM NEWS
DOLPHINS
- The Dolphins will make history as they compete in their inaugural season in the NRL, entering as the 17th team with the legendary Wayne Bennett taking the reins.
- The new outfit have had to build a roster from scratch so it may take them some time to get going but they will hope the experienced pack can lay the platform for the backs to do some damage.
Starting 13: Tabuai-Fidow, Isaako, Aitken, B. Lee, Niu, Katoa, O’Sullivan, J. Bromwich, Marshall-King, Wallace, Kaufusi, K. Bromwich, Gilbert – Interchanges: Ese’ese, Nicholls, Stone, Donoghoe – Reserves: Lemuelu, Faamausili, Teague, Milford, Jennings
Unavailable: Edrick Lee (Injured)
SYDNEY ROOSTERS
- Sydney Roosters are expected to be very competitive this season with them being tipped in some quarters to land the Premiership but they have a lot to prove if they are to achieve that success.
- The Tricolours boast a wealth of talent and have been able to add Brandon Smith to improve their hooking options but key man Joey Manu has been ruled out of this clash with a facial fracture.
Starting 13: Tedesco, Tupou, Suaalii, Allan Paulo, Keary, Walker, Collins, B. Smith, Lodge, E. Butcher, N. Butcher, Radley – Interchanges: Hutchison, Baker, Whyte, May – Reserves: Turpin, Hau Tapuha, S. Smith, Wong, Pauga

THE PREDICTION
Wayne Bennett faces the toughest job of his career as he takes the NRL’s newest side into their maiden campaign. The Dolphins found it tough going as they attempted to build a roster and there is definitely a feel that they lack quality across the board. That may be the case for the next few years as they attempt to establish themselves but they will be game in this opening contest with Sydney Roosters. The Chooks will be looking to compete for the Premiership this year and their star-studded line-up is likely to be too good for the hosts in this one and they can win by 13+ points.
