THE TEAM NEWS
DOLPHINS
- In their first ever game in the NRL, the Dolphins delivered a stunning upset win as they overcame powerhouse outfit Sydney Roosters last week.
- Wayne Bennett was able to mastermind the success as his side produced a robust effort in defence but the challenge will be to repeat that every week and their lack of depth could be tested with Ray Stone dropping out here with Mason Teague set to make his NRL debut.
Starting 13: Tabuai-Fidow, Isaako, Aitken, B. Lee, Niu, Katoa, O’Sullivan, J. Bromwich, Marshall-King, Wallace, Kaufusi, K. Bromwich, Gilbert – Interchanges: Lemuelu, Nicholls, Teague, Donoghoe – Reserves: Faamausili, Collins, Nikorima, Milford, Jennings
Unavailable: Edrick Lee (Injured), Herman Ese’ese (Injured), Ray Stone (Injured)
CANBERRA RAIDERS
- Canberra Raiders were ultimately made to pay for a slow start as they fell just short in their encounter with North Queensland Cowboys in round 1.
- The Raiders managed to pull themselves back to 18-all having trailed 18-0 but succumbed to a late field goal and now have to deal without the banned Jordan Rapana with Albert Hopoate taking his place on the wing.
Starting 13: Kris, Cotric, Timoko, Smith-Shields, Hopoate, Wighton, Fogarty, Saulo, Levi, Tapine, Young, Whitehead, Harawira-Naera – Interchanges: Starling, Mariota, Horsburgh, Guler – Reserves: Schiller, Frawley, Woolford, Mooney, Hola
Unavailable: Xavier Savage (Injured), Josh Papali’i (Injured), Adrian Trevilyan (Injured), Jordan Rapana (Suspended)
THE PREDICTION
The Dolphins were magnificent on their NRL debut as they produced a huge shock to defeat Sydney Roosters. That win could have been down to pure determination as they aimed to put on a show in their inaugural outing and the task for them will be to reproduce that effort here. They take on Canberra Raiders here who will be looking to bounce back from their round 1 disappointment. They lost out by a solitary point against North Queensland Cowboys having fought back from 18 points down and while they are capable of getting off the mark for the season in this one, it could be worth siding with the Dolphins on the handicap as they host an eight-point start.
