THE TEAM NEWS

CRONULLA SHARKS

  • Cronulla Sharks got the better of Newcastle Knights in what was a relatively straightforward success last time out but they will be keen to improve on their attacking play here.
  • The Sharks will feel they were better value than their four tries in that game and they have received a boost here with centre Siosifa Talakai returning from a neck injury while Nicho Hynes has been named to back-up after Origin.

Starting 13: Kennedy, Katoa, Ramien, Talakai, Mulitalo, Moylan, Hynes, Kaufusi, Brailey, Hunt, Nikora, Wilton, Finucane – Interchanges: Graham, Williams, Hazelton, Hamlin-Uele – Reserves: Trindall, Tracey, Coloquhoun, Atkinson, Berrell

Unavailable: Kade Dykes (Injured), Toby Rudolf (Injured), Cameron McInnes (Injured)

BRISBANE BRONCOS

  • Brisbane Broncos secured an impressive win in New Zealand as they got the better of the Warriors despite travelling across the ditch with a handful of players missing owing to State of Origin call-ups.
  • The Broncos avoided a third straight loss by claiming that surprise win and with their Origin players back on deck for this one, they will be full of confidence of going back-to-back.

Starting 13: Walsh, Arthars, Staggs, Farnworth, Cobbo, Mam, Reynolds, Flegler, Walters, Haas, Capewell, Riki, Carrigan – Interchanges: Paix, Jensen, Hetherington, Taupau – Reserves: Mariner, Piakura, Palasia, Willison, Oates, Sailor, Madden

THE PREDICTION

This should be a superb encounter as Cronulla Sharks take on Brisbane Broncos. The two teams start the round in second and third spot respectively on the ladder and there is very little to split them. Cronulla have won five of their last six so their recent form could give them the edge against a Brisbane side that have won just two of their last five and while the Broncos have listed their Origin stars to back-up here, it could be a tough night for them with such a short turnaround for those five so it is worth siding with the Sharks to come out on top.
