THE TEAM NEWS

BRISBANE BRONCOS

  • Brisbane Broncos suffered a first defeat in four matches as they went down to Gold Coast Titans in a surprising Queensland derby defeat last week.
  • The Broncos will aim to bounce back here but have been hit by a couple of injuries in the pack with Tom Flegler and Jordan Riki both out while Reece Walsh has been handed a three-game ban.

Starting 13: Sailor, Oates, Staggs, Farnworth, Cobbo, Mam, Reynolds, Palasia, Walters, Haas, Piakura, Willison, Carrigan – Interchanges: Smoothy, Jensen, Hetherington, Taupau – Reserves: Arthars, Mariner

Unavailable: Kurt Capewell (Injured), Thomas Flegler (Injured), Jordan Riki (Injured), Reece Walsh (Suspended)

DOLPHINS

  • The Dolphins have finally hit a poor spell in their inaugural season in the NRL as they were on the end of another hammering last week with Parramatta Eels putting 48 points on them.
  • That is now three losses in-a-row with 106 points conceded in their last two outings so that will be a huge area of emphasis this week with Tesi Niu and Jeremy Marshall-King returning to the side.

Starting 13: Tabuai-Fidow, Isaako, Aitken, Te Whare, Niu, Katoa, O’Sullivan, J. Bromwich, Marshall-King, Ese’ese, Kaufusi, K. Bromwich, Stone – Interchanges: Kerr, Nicholls, Lemuelu, Nikorima – Reserves: Plath, Faamausili

Unavailable: Tom Gilbert (Injured), Jarrod Wallace (Suspended), Anthony Milford (Suspended), Brenko Lee (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Brisbane Broncos will take part in a second Queensland derby in succession as they aim to bounce back from their loss to Gold Coast Titans as they take on the Dolphins at The Gabba. That was a first loss in four for the Broncos so they will feel they can bounce back here, especially as the Dolphins have been terrible on their last few outings. They have lost all of their defensive structure and are leaking points for fun so it would be a surprise if they were able to topple their rivals in this one.
