THE TEAM NEWS

- Penrith Panthers sent out another warning to the rest of the NRL as their excellent unbeaten start to the season continued with a devastating attacking display against top four rivals South Sydney Rabbitohs last week.
- The Panthers were in sensational form as they ran in nine tries while conceding just two as their exploits on both sides of the ball remain unrelenting and they will fancy their chances of recording another big score in this one having scored at least 48 points in each of their last three games.
CANTERBURY BULLDOGS
Starting 13: Watene-Zelezniak, Cotric, Hopoate, Schoupp, Meaney, Wakeham, Averillo, Hetherington, Topine, Thompson, Elliott, Doorey, Jackson – Interchanges: Deitz, Stimson, Napa, Seumanufagai – Reserves: Flanagan, Waddell, T. Katoa, Atoni
Unavailable: Jayden Okunbor (Injured), Christian Crichton (Injured), Raymond Faitala-Mariner (Injured), Jeremy Marshall-King (Injured), Corey Allan (Injured), Lachlan Lewis (Injured), Chris Smith (Suspended), Sione Katoa (Suspended)
- Canterbury Bulldogs remain stuck on a solitary win for the campaign as they suffered yet another defeat last week with Gold Coast Titans the latest side to get the better of them and worse could be yet to come as they take on Penrith Panthers.
- The form of the two teams could barely be any dissimilar with the Panthers winning all 11 of their games so far this campaign and at the end of Round 11, the Bulldogs possessed the worst attack as well as the worst defence in the NRL.
THE PREDICTION
This clash between top and bottom could get extremely messy if
Penrith Panthers want to put a score on with Canterbury Bulldogs likely
to offer little resistance. The Dogs have managed just one win all
campaign and despite hitting the 20-point mark for the first time this
year in last week’s loss to Gold Coast Titans, they are still averaging
less than 12 points per game while allowing 30. That is a major worry ahead of this clash
with the unstoppable Panthers who are dominating every side in their
wake on both sides of the ball. They have averaged 50 points per game in
their last three and with their defence also the best in the NRL, it is
difficult to envisage the Bulldogs getting anywhere near to the league
leaders here with the Panthers able to cover the -32 handicap.
