- Penrith Panthers were far from their best once again but they did what was required to overcome New Zealand Warriors last time out to make it three wins in succession.
- The Panthers will be eager to put in an improved performance this week ahead of their top of the table clash with Melbourne Storm in Round 20 and they are boosted by the return of five-eighth Jarome Luai but Api Koroisau has been banned for his breach of COVID-19 protocols.
BRISBANE BRONCOS
Starting 13: Niu, Oates, Staggs, Farnworth, Isaako, Gamble, Croft, Flegler, Turpin, Haas, Glenn, Riki, Hetherington – Interchanges: Paix, Kennedy, Palasia, Bullemor – Reserves: Robati, Arthars
Unavailable: Ben Te’o (Injured), Patrick Carrigan (Injured), Albert Kelly (Injured), John Asiata (Injured), Karmichael Hunt (Injured), Brendan Piakura (Injured)
- Brisbane Broncos failed miserably in their quest to make it back-to-back victories for the first time this season as a second half capitulation cost them dearly in their clash with Wests Tigers last week.
- Despite leading 18-10 at the break, the Broncos allowed 32 second half points to fall to a heavy loss and that defeat leaves them in what looks to be a two-way battle to avoid the wooden spoon.
THE PREDICTION
Penrith Panthers face a tough run-in to end the regular season and
they will be eager to build some momentum ahead of the finals. They have
won their last three without really impressing in their last two
outings but that could largely be attributed to issues with their
halfback pairing. Jarome Luai makes a welcome return this week and he
will be the key man as his side look to make it four successes in a row.
They take on struggling Brisbane Broncos who produced a terrible second
half to fall to defeat against Wests Tigers last week and that could
weigh heavily on their minds here with the Panthers able to win by 13+
points.
